Ready to Join the International Trick Dog Competition 2026?

The International Trick Dog Competition is back for 2026 — and Task 1 is all about hoops, loops, rings and anything in between!

Your challenge?

Create a video under 2 minutes showing us what you and your dog can do with ring-shaped props.

Think hula hoops, tyres, dog rings, frisbees, wreaths, steering wheels, scrunchies, pool noodles, your arms — or something we haven’t thought of yet!

And no, your dog doesn’t have to jump through a hoop. Carry it, stand in it, go around it, roll it, balance on it, go under it, put something through it, build a trick around it, involve the handler… the more imaginative, the better.

Task 1 is a chance to show off skills you already have, try something new, and discover just how many tricks can come from one simple idea.

Dogs of all ages, breeds and experience levels are welcome, including puppies, veterans, rescue dogs and dogs with disabilities or physical limitations. Complete beginners compete alongside others at a similar level, while experienced teams can add complexity and really let their creativity loose.

Every entry receives individual written feedback from the judges, with certificates, competition points, class awards and extra Judges’ Choice prizes up for grabs.

Task 1 entries close Sunday, 4 October 2026, at the end of the day in your own time zone.

Entry is £7 / $9 per class, and you can enter up to three eligible classes.

So find something round, invite your dog, and see where the idea takes you.
