Have you tried trick training, scent work, agility, hoopers, dog dance—or whatever exciting new challenge appeared in your feed that week, yet still have no idea which direction truly suits you and your dog?

Many enthusiastic handlers are not short of ideas. Quite the opposite.
We have saved tutorials, half-finished tricks, several training props and possibly one suspiciously expensive piece of equipment now serving as a clothes rack.
The real problem is not finding something to train.
It is discovering what is right for your team.
Your dog may be able to do it—but do they love it?
A talented dog can often learn many different activities. That does not mean every activity brings out their best.
One dog may light up when searching and making independent choices. Another may love close teamwork, movement or performing. Some enjoy careful object work. Others want speed, freedom or a problem to solve.
When we focus only on whether the dog can learn a skill, we can miss the more important questions:
What makes my dog come alive?
Where is their real talent?
What kind of work do they choose to return to?
Sometimes the activity we are most excited about is not the one our dog would choose.
That does not mean giving up our dreams. It means understanding our dog well enough to find the best way to reach them—or discovering a different dream that could suit us both even better.
You are part of the answer too!
Choosing a direction around the dog alone is not enough.
You may have a dog who could excel at scent work, but your heart belongs to creative performance. Or perhaps you love competition, technical challenges, useful tasks or simply creating something unusual together.
Your strengths matter. Your training style matters. Your dreams matter.
The most exciting possibilities often appear where these two sides meet:
What your dog naturally loves and does well—and what you would genuinely love to build with them.
That is when training stops feeling like a random collection of activities and begins to feel like a shared journey.
What could change if you found the right fit?
You may spend less time pushing through activities that never quite click.
Training can become clearer because you understand how your dog learns and what motivates them. Your dog can become more confident because the work suits them. You can feel more inspired because you know where you are going and why.
Most importantly, you begin building the foundations of a strong team.
That understanding can support success in almost anything you later choose to pursue—whether it is agility, tricks, dog dance, scent work, obedience, film work, practical tasks, competition or an idea that is completely your own.
You do not need to do everything.
You need to discover what could become your thing.
Find the direction that fits you both
Beyond Tricks: Build on What Makes You Brilliant Together is a six-week guided programme designed to help you discover:
what truly motivates your dog;
how they learn best;
where their strongest talents may lie;
what they genuinely enjoy;
how your own strengths and dreams fit with theirs.
You will use that understanding to choose a meaningful direction and create a personalised project and development plan for your team.
No generic pathway.
No pressure to copy what everybody else is doing.
No requirement to purchase another cupboard full of props.
Just a clearer understanding of your dog, yourself and what you could become together.
